About The Position

The JV Softball Coach assists the head coach with organizing the softball program at Denbigh High School. The role supports practices, motivates students, and instructs student athletes in game strategies and techniques. The coach also helps supervise athletes, monitor performance, manage equipment and records, and participate in team and school activities.

Requirements

Some experience as an assistant softball coach at the high school or college level is preferred.
Effective coaching techniques and skills.
Some knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of softball.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.

Responsibilities

Assist the head coach in teaching players the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of softball.
Organize and direct individual and small-group practice activities and exercises as directed by the head coach.
Assess player skills, monitor athletes during practices and competitions, and keep the head coach informed about student performance.
Assist with determining game strategy.
Assist the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competitions.
Follow established procedures if an athlete is injured.
Model sportsmanlike behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
Maintain the equipment room in orderly condition and be responsible for its security.
Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
Assist the head coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season.
Participate in special activities, including parents’ night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
Distribute and maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
