About The Position

Reed City High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Junior Varsity Boys Basketball program for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the game, and a commitment to fostering the development of student-athletes both on and off the court. This position requires a focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, as well as the ability to create a positive and inclusive environment for all players.

Requirements

Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Must pass a background check as required by the school district.
A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all players.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement practice plans that enhance player skills and team performance.
Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring that all players receive appropriate instruction and feedback.
Coach and mentor student-athletes during games, providing strategic guidance and support.
Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and player progress.
Collaborate with the varsity coaching staff to align training and development goals.
Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
Ensure compliance with all school and athletic department policies and regulations.
Attend all scheduled games and practices, as well as any necessary meetings or events.
Promote the basketball program within the school and community to encourage participation and support.
