About The Position

The Juvenile Supervision Officer (JSO) position is a full-time role located within the secured area of the San Patricio County Juvenile Detention Center. This is a non-smoking building. The work environment is primarily inside a detention center, and employees may be exposed to emergency situations with potential danger or physical injury. The role requires frequent contact with other employees, law enforcement, juvenile justice officials, and juveniles. The JSO must remain calm and professional in tense, emotionally charged, and stressful situations, often working under time pressures, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, and collaborating as part of a team. A positive attitude is essential. The noise level is usually moderate but can be noisy and distracting.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be of good moral character.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license.
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED (documentation required).
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must pass drug testing.
  • Must be a team player.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of college credit in Criminal Justice, social work, Psychology or related field.
  • 1 year working with emotionally disturbed and/or violent children or chemically dependent children.
