About The Position

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Nome Juvenile Probation is recruiting to fill an On-Call, Non-Permanent Juvenile Justice Counselor 1 position. This position will work some day, evening, and night shifts as well as on weekends and holidays. Work will be on-call and sporadic. You will ensure the security of youth awaiting transport to the nearest juvenile detention facility while in the Nome Probation Office during assigned shifts. You will occasionally perform escorts from Nome to other Youth Facilities in the State as well as residential treatment centers in and out of the State of Alaska. Through Restorative Justice, we hold juvenile offenders accountable for their behavior; promote the safety and restoration of victims and communities; and assist offenders and their families in developing the skills to prevent crime. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Must be 20 years of age or older.
  • Successful candidates are subject to a background investigation, criminal record check, and medical examination.
  • A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
