A youth caseworker plays a crucial role in supporting and guiding young people through various challenges they might face, such as family issues, educational struggles, or mental health concerns.   • Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Drug & Alcohol Counseling, Human Services, Education or related field OR High School Diploma with at least 6 years of related experience
  • Supervision of adolescents experience preferred
  • Must have a valid NYS driver’s license
  • Work required is one on one or in a group, in the community or in the home where the child lives, support child in various community venues; attend meetings and trainings in administrative buildings as required.
  • The constant physical demand of the position is sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, good vision.
  • The frequent physical demands of the position are, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • The occasional physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.

Responsibilities

  • Form and maintain relationships with participants, their families and support systems, schools, community employers, and partners.
  • Work one-on-one with participants to promote the development and growth of soft skills and independent living skills.
  • Work with participants to teach independent living skills related to work and school.
  • Attend all court dates with clients, transporting clients to the court appearance if necessary.
  • Develop, plan, and facilitate workshops.
  • Work with participants to develop positive work skills, explore colleges and careers, and to learn job readiness skills.
  • Teach participants how to function independently, such as teaching how to open a bank account and budgeting, interpersonal on intrapersonal skills.
  • Connect clients and their families to appropriate community resources to ensure continued success following program completion.
  • Maintain open communication with the referral sources on a consistent basis.
  • Complete all documentation and data entry in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all federal and state regulations and agency policies pertaining to HIPAA, false claims, whistleblower policies, and all others.
  • Any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
