About The Position

The incumbent is responsible for working as part of a team to complete the intake process for all youth referred to the Juvenile Intake & Assessment Center (JIAC) by law enforcement. Process juveniles (birth-17) by completing intake reports (data entry), property inventories, fingerprinting and photographing. Assess juveniles by completing state-mandated screening instruments. Transport youth to emergency shelter when necessary. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task. Provide referrals for the youth and his/her family when appropriate for social/intervention services. Complete all required reports (data entry) and paperwork within the prescribed timeframes. Regular contact with county law enforcement agencies, court and legal staff, detention centers, social agencies, juveniles and their families or guardians. Knowledgeable in Trauma Informed Care. This is a 24/7 operation with shift work.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of college coursework in human services or other related field, OR 2 years’ experience working with youth and families, OR a combination of the two.
  • Must be able to be certified in performing First Aid and CPR.
  • Must have valid Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a post offer criminal history background check, physical examination and drug screen.
  • Must submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
  • Knowledgeable in Trauma Informed Care.
