Under supervision, performs work of routine to complex difficulty providing for the security, daily care, and welfare of detainees in the Juvenile Detention facility. This role involves mentoring, supervising, and directing detained youth, performing searches for contraband, conducting security checks, and maintaining the overall security of the facility. The position also requires de-escalation, discipline, crisis intervention, and physical restraint of detainees as needed. Responsibilities include assisting with escorting or transporting youth, kitchen duties, housekeeping, and maintaining youth social files with accurate data entry into the Juvenile On-line Tracking System (JOLTS). For the Juvenile Detention Officer role, additional duties include distributing medications, completing intake and release procedures, creating and implementing youth programs, conducting orientations, facilitating communication between youth and external parties, and potentially acting as a shift lead. This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
