About The Position

This is a part-time, 20-hour per week position with flexible evening and weekend hours, and some weekday hours. The role involves providing services to youth and their families during their involvement with the Juvenile Court. The ideal candidate will keep information confidential, follow rules, understand and relay instructions, build rapport, and communicate courteously and cooperatively. Excellent interpersonal skills are needed to effectively deal with youth and families.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Courteous, cooperative and ability to build rapport.
  • Understands, reads and relays instructions.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Follows and requires others to follow set rules.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with youth and families.
  • Operates general office equipment, computer and word processing and case management software.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience with youth preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing services to the youth and the youth’s families during the youth’s course of involvement with the Juvenile Court.
  • Working with assigned youth as identified by the Juvenile Court Supervisor.
  • Assisting with accessing transportation for court meetings, hearings, court-ordered services and evaluations.
  • Assisting in seeking and gaining employment.
  • Assisting and exposing youth to positive social activities.
  • Assisting with college applications, GED, job corps or other employment training.
  • Mentoring positive models of healthy relationships.
  • Connecting youth and families with culturally relevant programming and services.
  • Bridging the communication and understanding between the juvenile court and youth.
  • Outreaching to families to ensure they understand the court process and what is happening.
  • Assisting with participants in group outings and special projects.
  • Documenting activities in the case management system.
  • Reporting any neglect or abuse as a mandated reporter.
  • Providing feedback regarding services provided to the juvenile court staff when requested.
  • Attending staff meetings and court as required.
  • Conducting and observing drug testing of the youth when requested.
  • Conducting curfew checks by phone or in person when requested by the juvenile court officer.
  • Performing other duties of a comparable level or type.
