About The Position

We are hiring a Juvenile Assessment Specialist / Senior Assessment Specialist who will be responsible for assessing, referring, and supporting youth and families in the Jefferson County community. This is a night shift position, 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM (four 10 hour shifts weekly). Night shift positions receive shift differential pay of $1.25 an hour (already built into salary ranges below). Spanish Speaking staff receive an additional language stipend. The Jefferson County Juvenile Assessment Center (JCJAC) provides and maintains a single point of entry for assessments, referrals, coordination of care, and support for youth ages 10 – 17 and their families. The JCJAC is open 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week, and 365 days a year.

Requirements

  • Must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or other closely related field.

  • Must agree to fingerprinting and criminal background check. Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) AND the Central Registry of Child Protection (TRAILS).
  • Subject to pre-employment, post-accident or incident or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate assessments and interviews to determine appropriate services/interventions.
  • Provide screening to determine if youth are eligible to be detained.
  • Communicate with partnering agencies.
  • Supervise youth while at the JCJAC.
  • Make appropriate referrals to community services based on client information, assessment outcomes, and family’s willingness to participate.
  • Supervise youth in the community (office appointments, field contacts, home visits).
  • Work with parents or guardians to coordinate care.
  • Collaborate with partnering agencies.
  • Maintain current and accurate records and notes.
  • Compose reports based on assessments, interviews, and collateral information (CYDC, Court, District Attorney, Public Defender, Human Services, and Probation).
  • Provide case management services for Municipalities and Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office.
  • Utilize assessments to create case plans.
  • Refer for services.
  • Communicate progress with key stakeholders.
  • Attend meetings, subcommittees, and work groups when deemed appropriate.
  • Establish strong working relationships within the community.
  • Participate in supervision.
  • Engage in improving the overall function of the juvenile justice system in Jefferson County.
  • On-call duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
