About The Position

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is seeking an unpaid intern for the Junior Youth Officer position within the Gender and Youth Office. This internship offers an opportunity to participate in the ITU’s meaningful youth engagement work globally. The intern will assist in implementing the ITU Youth Strategy, supporting various programs such as the Secretary-General’s Youth Advisory Board, the Young Professionals Programme, the Reverse Mentoring Initiative, and Youth Leadership activities. Responsibilities include supporting the drafting of reports and written materials on youth matters, and contributing to ITU’s youth communications and community building efforts through social media and the Future Innovators Podcast.

Requirements

• University degree in any relevant field.
• No work experience required.
• English at advanced level.
• Be under 30 years of age (Exceptions may be considered for candidates pursuing a Ph.D.).
• Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate programme, or be a recent graduate (within six months prior to the start of the internship).
• Be a citizen of a Member State of ITU.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the ITU’s meaningful youth engagement work with and for young people globally.
• Assist in the implementation of the ITU Youth Strategy, particularly through the ITU Secretary-General’s Youth Advisory Board, the ITU Young Professionals Programme, the ITU Reverse Mentoring Initiative and ITU Youth Leadership activities.
• Support the drafting and updating of reports, briefing notes, and other written materials youth matters for internal and external audiences.
• Support ITU’s youth communications and community building efforts, to amplify ITU’s engagement with global youth through ITU social media and the ITU Future Innovators Podcast.
