About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Junior Civil Engineering Technologist to join our Transportation Design group in Ottawa. This entry-level role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career technologist who is interested in transportation infrastructure and wants hands-on experience using industry-standard software and tools. Experience with AutoDesk and Bentley products (AutoCAD, MicroStation, AutoTURN, OpenRoads Designer, ProjectWise, TORUS) is an asset, but not required—training and mentorship will be provided. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team. Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology/Technician from an accredited college (or equivalent education).
  • 0+ years of relevant work experience in civil/transportation design (co-op or internship experience considered an asset).
  • Interest in computer-aided design (CAD) and transportation engineering.
  • Knowledge of any of the following: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, AutoTURN, OpenRoads Designer, ProjectWise, ACC, TORUS.
  • Strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoDesk and Bentley products (AutoCAD, MicroStation, AutoTURN, OpenRoads Designer, ProjectWise, TORUS) is an asset, but not required—training and mentorship will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Use design software to assist with functional, preliminary, and detailed design drawings.
  • Help interpret and apply relevant design standards, details, and company procedures.
  • Assist with the geometric design of streets, transit corridors, roadways, highways, and active transportation (cycling and pedestrian) facilities.
  • Collaborate with Engineers and other team members to support coordinated, multi-disciplinary designs.
  • Assist with design and quantity calculations and support preparation of cost estimates, specifications, and tender documents.
