About The Position

They are a global leader in communications satellites, Earth and space observation, and space exploration and infrastructure, with a team of over 3,000 space experts across Canada, the US, and the UK. The company is seeking a Junior Technician - Electrical for their Satellite systems team at their Montreal office. This role is at a continuing education level and may involve supervision from more experienced technicians or technical staff for tasks such as simple test bench assembly, modification, or validation. The technician may also perform tests on simple electronic assemblies, passive or active telecommunications equipment, and chamber monitoring on more complex equipment. The successful candidate must demonstrate initiative and progress within routine tasks with well-defined boundaries.

Requirements

  • Education: College diploma or equivalent in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics or related field as assigned.
  • Experience: 0 to 2 years of relevant experience
  • Language skills: At ease in spoken and written French and English (Contact with customers outside Quebec).
  • Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.

Responsibilities

  • Align and test simple production equipment according to well-defined procedures or other guidelines. Record test results.
  • Assist in setting up, modifying and checking test stands for equipment of simple complexity.
  • Assist more experienced technicians or technologists.
  • Participate in the monitoring of thermal or vacuum chambers.
  • Perform work in accordance with internal procedures and in compliance with our occupational health and safety rules.
  • Perform other related duties.
