About The Position

The Florida State Fair Authority is seeking a motivated Junior Systems Engineer to expand their technical skills and gain hands-on experience across a wide range of IT systems and technologies. In this role, you will work alongside experienced IT professionals supporting servers, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, cloud services, networking, cybersecurity, workstations, enterprise applications, and more. You will also have opportunities to work with audio and communications equipment, security systems, low-voltage wiring, and the unique technology infrastructure that supports the Florida State Fair. This position involves troubleshooting problems, participating in technology projects, learning new systems, and implementing solutions that impact employees, events, and Fair operations. It offers an opportunity to learn by doing, build technical experience, and grow your IT career while supporting a recognizable annual event. The IT Junior Systems Engineer provides technical support for FSFA’s server, cloud, and infrastructure environments. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this role assists with the administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of IT systems to ensure reliable and secure operation of business services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four to six years of professional, work-related experience.
  • Experience with configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Windows 11 and Windows Server 2019 and newer.
  • Support of Microsoft Office products, Defender Antivirus required.
  • Ability to receive, organize, plan, and complete complex work assignments in a timely fashion
  • Strong skills in properly utilizing diagnostic hardware and software
  • Ability to be proactive, take ownership, and independently develop and implement new technologies
  • Excellent communications and customer service skills and the ability to operate courteously under pressure
  • Knowledge of Atera and other monitor tools
  • Strong skills working with Windows Server 2019+, Hyper-V, and Office 365 Admin Center
  • Strong skills working in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lift and install equipment up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to work flexible hours including, but not limited to, early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays as well as 24/7 coverage for major system outages

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of Windows servers, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and cloud-based services.
  • Monitor system performance, backups, security alerts, and infrastructure health.
  • Support the deployment, configuration, and patching of servers, workstations, and enterprise applications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-related issues.
  • Maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, and technology implementations.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives and compliance requirements.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineering staff as needed.
  • Support department by assisting in the specification and installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of amplifiers, mixers, speakers, microphones, etc.
  • Installation and service of low voltage wiring for sound and security systems, keeping records of installs/moves/changes, and assisting in the installation and certification of CAT5/CAT6/COAX data wiring.
  • Maintain audio, telecom, datacom, security and consumables equipment inventory.
  • Additional work-related duties as required, which will include but not be limited to technology and communications related tasks and disaster recovery duties.
  • Ensure accurate installation, configuration, event programming of workstations, printers, cameras, wireless access points, servers, and networking equipment.
  • Installation or relocation, configuration, and customization of workstations for fair-time only employees.
  • Support Credentials operations by assisting with the printing of tickets and badges within the automated ticket system.
  • Perform additional work-related duties as needed.
