About The Position

Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Junior Systems Engineer for its' Federal Strategic Cyber program. In this role, you will support the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems across the program’s infrastructure. You will possess hands‑on experience working in Linux environments along with practical familiarity using OpenWRT‑based systems. You will apply strong technical problem‑solving skills and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team. You will assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems and network devices, support troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for system issues, implement updates, patches, and configuration changes, and maintain documentation and configuration records. You will also collaborate with senior engineers on technical tasks and project deliverables.

Requirements

Bachelors degree and minimum of 3 years of experience in systems engineering, IT operations, or a related technical field. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of the bachelors degree.
Proficiency with Linux (administration, command‑line operations, configuration).
Working familiarity with OpenWRT (router firmware, configuration, network setup, package management).
Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls).
U.S. citizenship required.
Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience with scripting (Bash, Python).
Exposure to embedded systems or network appliances.
Familiarity with Git or other version‑control tools.
