About The Position

JSI Telecom is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer who is eager to develop technical, analytical, and business skills in a collaborative environment. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who enjoys problem-solving, learning enterprise infrastructure technologies, and automating systems through Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This position is based in Kanata, Ontario and hybrid with the expectation of two in-office days per week.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation using tools such as GitHub, Terraform/OpenTofu, or Ansible.
  • Interest in learning enterprise hardware platforms including Dell and Cisco server, networking, and storage technologies.
  • Interest in virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Proxmox, and KubeVirt.
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting computer systems and infrastructure-level issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Curiosity, creativity, and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Basic programming background with an interest in automation or scripting.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the qualification, automation, configuration, and operation of new infrastructure components.
  • Participate in projects involving the implementation of new hardware and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with senior systems engineers, Sales, Production, and Technical Support teams to engineer and deliver infrastructure solutions.
  • Contribute to feature development and user stories related to hardware and infrastructure engineering under senior guidance.
  • Work with Systems Engineering and Production teams to implement, document, and standardize new technologies and configurations.
  • Develop delivery and implementation documentation for use by internal teams.
  • Provide training to the Technical Support team on new and upgraded technologies.
  • Deliver third-tier (Tier 3) technical support for infrastructure-related issues.
  • Occasional travel as required to support projects and deployments.
