About The Position

The Geointelligence team is a leader in geospatial imagery, ground stations, enterprise geospatial systems and defence programs, focused on turning data into insight for applications like monitoring fragile ecosystems and shipping routes. As a member of a Geointelligence project team, the individual will initially be assigned to work on the ground segment of a large satellite mission program. They will work as part of a technical team to develop new capabilities, enhance existing capabilities, and deliver solutions to customers. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Software or Computer Engineering or Engineering Physics
  • Familiarity with Matlab or similar analysis tools
  • Familiarity with MS Excel, for the purpose of engineering analyses
  • Familiarity with Python, Java, Go, or a similar programming language
  • Familiarity with modern software development methodology, tools, and software specification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to perform in a dynamic working environment
  • Team-friendly attitude and willingness to learn
  • Must obtain and hold security clearance at the SECRET level
  • Must pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior involvement in development of cloud-based applications
  • Understanding of different types of engineering life cycles as applicable from large complex programs to software development
  • Familiarity with satellite remote sensing or earth observation
  • Familiarity with orbital mechanics, satellite communications, spacecraft design and operation considerations
  • Familiarity with machine learning / deep learning

Responsibilities

  • Tracing customer requirements to conceptual designs and preparing associated documentation
  • Contributing to decomposition of requirements and interface control documents (ICDs)
  • Performing technical engineering tasks, such as operational analyses and trade-off studies, to define system design and subsystem details
  • Devising solutions for creating and delivering systems and subsystem features
  • Working with MDA’s software development teams to build and test operational features
  • Participating in integration and testing of system level features
  • Revising and maintaining various system models in Excel, Matlab, Python, etc.
