About The Position

Sheladia Associates, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Rockville, MD. This role involves assisting in the planning, design, and execution of various civil engineering projects, contributing to the development of sustainable infrastructure. The position offers the opportunity to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment with exposure to and collaboration with multiple disciplines on a variety of projects, within a hands-on, collaborative team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution
• 0–4 years of experience in civil engineering projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD required
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Basic understanding of local building codes and regulations
• Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and environmental regulations

Nice To Haves

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and GIS software, along with experience in Revit, is preferred
• Experience with ENERCALC and STAAD - Pro is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data and assess project requirements
• Perform engineering calculations and analyze data to support project designs
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers on various aspects of civil, structural or related engineering projects
• Assist in the preparation of project reports, cost estimates, and technical documentation
• Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with team members and clients
• Support the development and implementation of quality control procedures
• Stay updated on local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies
