The Junior Staff Accountant supports the Finance team in areas such as accounts payable, purchasing, vendor administration, reconciliations, and general accounting. This role is the primary point of contact for assigned accounts payable and purchasing processes, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, investigating transaction discrepancies, supporting internal controls, and ensuring complete and auditable accounting documentation. Reporting to the Controller, the Junior Staff Accountant works closely with the Staff Accountant and other Finance team members. The position assists with routine journal entries, balance-sheet reconciliations, accruals, fixed-asset support, month-end activities, and financial schedules, with appropriate review. This is a developmental role for an individual who can manage assigned transactional responsibilities independently while building broader general-ledger and financial-accounting skills. The role operates in a deadline-driven environment and requires strong accuracy, organization, follow-through, research skills, and sound judgment for issue resolution or escalation. The employee will also receive cross-training on selected Staff Accountant processes to ensure Finance department continuity during absences, though this does not transfer primary ownership of the Staff Accountant function.

  • Experience working in an ERP environment required; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
  • Candidate should be comfortable researching transaction history, vendor records, purchase orders, invoices, account activity, and supporting documentation within an ERP system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting and filtering, lookups, and basic data analysis.
  • Ability to research routine discrepancies and work toward resolution independently before escalating.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Finance, Operations, department managers, and external vendors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with financial and business information.

  • Support the purchase order process, monitor open and recurring POs, ensure proper approvals, and help resolve purchasing and invoice discrepancies.
  • Assist with vendor onboarding, maintain vendor records, verify required documentation such as W-9s and insurance certificates, and track contract renewals and expiration dates.
  • Assist the Staff Accountant with month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, financial schedules, fixed-asset records, audits, and financial reporting support.
  • Provide backup support to the Staff Accountant when needed and assist with assigned accounting responsibilities while escalating complex accounting matters appropriately.
  • Ensure transactions are properly coded, documented, authorized, and processed according to company policies and internal controls.
  • Work with Finance, Operations, department managers, and vendors to resolve financial, purchasing, invoice, and accounting questions and discrepancies.
