A Junior Staff Accountant for Vertex will help manage day-to-day accounting operations for multiple locations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role will assist our accounting department, handling general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, month-end close, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic, growing multi-unit location environment. Bilingual English and Mandarin required

Requirements

  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with multi-location accounting and consolidations.
  • Familiarity with POS systems, inventory, and cost of goods management.
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance and tax regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Bilingual English and Mandarin required

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred
  • Hospitality accounting: 2 years (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure accuracy in all financial transactions, including reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor accounts.
  • Work with the Controller to lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely reporting of financial statements.
  • Prepare journal entries, financial statements, and variance analysis to assist in strategic decision-making.
  • Manage fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and inventory accounting.
  • Work with the accounting team to develop and implement policies and procedures that improve efficiency and financial controls.
  • Prepare reports for management, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Collaborate with operations and management teams to gather relevant financial data for decision-making.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes for multiple locations.
  • Provide financial analysis on trends, performance metrics, and cost-saving opportunities across locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
