About The Position

Quarto Publishing is seeking a Junior SQL Developer who loves turning data into insights. You’ll dive into database operations, optimize SQL queries, support reporting, and help keep our data accurate and secure. This role is perfect for someone eager to grow their skills, learn from experienced developers, and make an impact across teams. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and collaboration are a must! This position is based in our Beverly, MA office on a hybrid schedule, but we are open to considering remote opportunities for the right candidate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, Business Intelligence, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server and writing complex SQL queries.
  • Ability to create optimized database queries, including joins and cross-references between multiple tables.
  • Familiarity with database management tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Understanding of database concepts, stored procedures, and data normalization.
  • Knowledge of data exchange protocols with internal and external systems, including web services, JSON, and XML.
  • Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Desire to learn and grow technical skills, with an interest in root cause analysis and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Exposure to ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics GP.
  • Basic understanding of database performance tuning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop efficient, reliable, and well-structured database queries using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Create, optimize, and maintain stored procedures.
  • Support data integration processes for importing data into the Microsoft Dynamics GP system using eConnect, Integration Manager, and SQL stored procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SQL code issues, providing recommendations and solutions.
  • Assist with Microsoft Dynamics GP administration, including setting up new users and assigning access based on job roles.
  • Maintain data accuracy and integrity across systems and databases.
  • Develop and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Follow best practices for database design, development, and data security.
  • Collaborate with development and cross-functional teams to improve processes and system performance.
