We are seeking a Junior Specialist to provide support to Atira’s three business units — AWRS, ADS, and AWAS. This is a developmental role designed for someone with a growth mindset who is eager to learn and progress toward a Specialist role.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–2 years of HR experience with exposure to employee and union relations (e.g., supporting investigations, attending grievance meetings as note-taker, preparing documentation, assisting with performance management), preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., UKG/UltiPro), ticketing/tracking systems, and a demonstrated interest in professional development with a desire to progress within Employee and Union Relations toward a Specialist position.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Fact-finding and investigative skills, with a willingness to learn advanced techniques.
  • Ability to assess situations objectively, apply critical thinking, and make informed, logical decisions
  • Ability to apply a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Clear and professional communication skills.
  • A growth mindset, openness to feedback, and enthusiasm for professional development.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, First Nations, newcomers, and individuals with disabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in languages other than English is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist preparing performance management documentation and support managers in understanding processes and expectations.
  • Assist with workplace investigations including coordinate interviews and prepare supporting materials.
  • Maintain accurate records, update tracking systems, and ensure documentation is complete and organized.
  • Support the creation and delivery of training materials and resources.
  • Collaborate with the broader People & Culture (P&C) team, Payroll and Operations, and provide responsive support to the organization on Labor Relation matters.
