We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer who is passionate about building scalable cloud platforms, distributed systems, and modern data infrastructure. Reporting to the Lead Software Engineer, you'll contribute to the development of a cloud-native data lake platform that supports production API services, big data processing, and machine learning workloads. You'll work alongside experienced software engineers, data professionals, and technical leaders to design and deliver reliable, high-performance systems that power identity verification at a global scale. This is an opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies, learn from a high-performing team, and make a meaningful impact on products used to verify billions of people worldwide. This is a full-time hybrid position based out of our Vancouver office with three in-office days per week.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a closely-related field of study.
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in software development
  • Experience developing distributed cloud applications and Web/API services
  • Experience with modern application paradigms
  • Knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases
  • Agile software development and DevOps principles

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing distributed cloud applications using C# and Python
  • Experience with AWS, Serverless, Microservice architectures, and other modern application paradigms
  • Knowledge of relational databases and NoSQL
  • Knowledge of network protocols
  • Experience building distributed web services
  • Experience as a proven problem solver who loves to learn and apply the latest technologies
  • Experience as a core contributor who builds clean, performant systems
  • Experience as a mentor who brings out the best in their team and helps them grow
  • The ability to formulate a plan and execute it with minimal supervision
  • The ability to follow the philosophy of agile software development and DevOps principles

Responsibilities

  • Applying cutting edge technologies to modern cloud application development.
  • Collaborating with UX and Product Management to craft customer-focused solutions and forward-looking product strategy.
  • Working with a team of high-performance software engineers to architect, design and deliver new products and user experiences.
  • Working closely with senior technical leadership to keep the technology competitive and up to date.
  • Owning a product release from discovery to deployment.
