About The Position

Join our team to support the development of backend services that power our meter data integration platform. You'll work on connecting with external systems including supplier APIs and SFTP portals, learning modern backend practices while contributing to a critical part of our infrastructure. This role offers hands-on experience with API integrations and data exchange in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of professional backend development experience, or strong coding fundamentals from bootcamps or academic background.
  • Solid understanding of Python and willingness to deepen knowledge of FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and related tools.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API concepts and basic API design.
  • Comfortable working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  • Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0.
  • Experience or enthusiasm for integrating with third-party APIs.
  • Basic understanding of authentication mechanisms and data transformation concepts.
  • Experience with SFTP protocols or file-based data exchange workflows.
  • Familiarity with testing concepts and frameworks for backend code.
  • Ability to debug issues with guidance and learn from technical challenges.
  • Good teamwork skills and openness to feedback and mentoring.
  • Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure) and Docker containers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or familiarity with meter data, utilities, or energy sector systems.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts or Snowflake.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of integrations with third-party supplier and grid operator APIs, focusing on authentication, data mapping, and error handling.
  • Supporting the implementation of data exchange mechanisms with SFTP portals, including file transfer workflows and data validation.
  • Developing and maintaining backend APIs using Python (FastAPI), with guidance on design principles and best practices.
  • Working with SQLAlchemy to manage database operations and contribute to data structure implementation for our Snowflake data platform.
  • Gaining practical experience implementing OAuth 2.0 and other authentication mechanisms for secure API integration.
  • Writing unit and integration tests to verify the correctness and reliability of integration components.
  • Working closely with senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams, learning from code reviews and technical discussions.
  • Assisting with CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based deployment processes under guidance.
