Job Summary This job involves assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications. It debugs software to optimize performance, participates in code reviews for continuous improvement, and implements testing protocols to ensure reliability. About the Team / Role: The Comcast CDN team is a fast-growing, fast-moving team of world-class experts who are continuously innovating IP Content Delivery. We are a team that thrives on big challenges, superior results, high-quality products, well-documented software, and the ability to move quickly in all areas. As a Junior Engineer for the CDN OpsEng team, you will be expected to deploy, manage, and troubleshoot the hardware and software that supports CDN applications and develop tools to help drive automation. What are the interesting problems you’ll be working on? Comcast provides a CDN through the Apache Traffic Control. We connect content providers to customer STBs and over-the-top applications like NBC Peacock. The CDN consists of thousands of individual servers distributed across Comcast’s entire footprint as well as with multiple syndication partners in the US and Canada. As the CDN continues to scale we will need engineers who can automate the management of these servers, streamline deployment pipelines, reduce mean time to recovery, and quickly identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues. You’ll be working with some of Comcast’s best engineers on the future of content delivery. Who will you work with? As a CDN OpsEng SRE work and collaborate with industry experts from many disciplines: software architects and developers, network engineers, data scientists, security specialists, and various streaming video technologists. CDN OpsEng SRE also engage with quality assurance engineers, technical operators, product owners, and vendors. Where can you make an impact? Your contributions will help scale the Comcast CDN to be one of the largest in the world. Your team will build and deploy servers that distribute video content to millions of existing and new customers.
