About The Position

GFT is seeking a Junior Site/Civil Designer/Engineer to support a variety of projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at the Mechanicsburg, PA office. The position offers the opportunity to participate in project teams for the planning, design, and construction administration of public and private projects. Clients and projects may be in various locations typically in the northeast region. Candidate must have the flexibility to travel within the region periodically to help serve GFT’s client base. Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering (MS is a plus)
  • E.I.T required.
  • 0-2 years of site/civil experience required including a thorough knowledge of the requirements of local, State and Federal agencies having site plan approval jurisdiction.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated interest in civil site design or land development engineering through applied coursework, internships, or related experiences.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively on a team.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Production of engineering and design deliverables in accordance with GFT procedures and standards for projects across the business line.
  • Collaborating with PMs and Senior Site/Civil Engineers to deliver successful projects to a variety of GFT clients.
  • Understanding and applying agency design standards in the design of civil infrastructure.
  • Using hydrologic and hydraulic programs in the analysis of storm water.
  • Modeling water and wastewater systems (using WaterCAD and SewerCAD).
  • Preparing roadway design (using Civil 3D).
  • Writing Basis of Design or other reports related to Stormwater, Drainage, Erosion and Sedimentation Control and/or Water and Wastewater Utility Improvements.
  • Coordinating with other disciplines in the development of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare stormwater management reports and NPDES permit applications for post development stormwater discharge permits.
