About The Position

The Junior Security Engineer implements and operates security controls in an AWS environment. The role includes security testing, support for authorization-to-operate (ATO) evidence and continuous monitoring, and remediation of findings to help keep a federal filing platform secure and compliant. The position follows a hybrid schedule, with two days in Reston, Virginia, and work at client locations in the Washington, D.C., area as required.

• Ability to pass a seven-year background check and obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

• One to two years of security engineering experience, including cloud (AWS) experience.
• Experience with vulnerability management and security tooling.
• Working knowledge of NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP controls.
• Scripting and automation skills.

Nice To Haves

• Security certification such as Security+, AWS Security Specialty, or similar.
• Federal ATO or continuous-monitoring experience.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted security tooling.

Responsibilities

• Implement and configure security controls across the AWS environment.
• Perform vulnerability scanning and security testing, and track remediation.
• Support ATO evidence collection against NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP controls.
• Operate continuous-monitoring and threat-detection tooling.
• Partner with DevSecOps to automate security in the pipeline.
• Support incident response and forensics.
• Use AI-assisted security tooling for detection and triage.
