About The Position

St. Joseph Parish in Cockeysville, MD is seeking candidates for a Junior Sacristan position. The Sacristan will be responsible for coordinating the sacristy during weekend liturgical celebrations. This includes preparing vessels, vestments, church furnishings, objects, and supplies. This is an hourly position that requires working Saturdays and Sundays. Sacristans report to the Associate Pastor and the weekly hours are between 2 to 4 hours per week.

Requirements

• Minimum 14 years old, able to obtain work permit.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing with The Church.
• Knowledge of parts of the Mass or willingness to learn and be an integral part of the Mass.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to project a courteous, warm, and welcoming image.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate preparation for weekend Masses, including weddings, baptisms, and quinceañeras as scheduled.
• Maintain good order in the sacristy.
• Report any candle or supply needs to the appropriate staff.
• Report any maintenance needs to the appropriate staff.
