About The Position

Field Service Technicians install, service, maintain and repair biomedical systems and equipment. Emphasis on durable, deployable and capital medical equipment, i.e., laboratory, clinical, dental, therapeutic, pneumatic, hydraulic, general, surgical, diagnostic and treatment equipment at the hardware, component, sub-assembly, module or circuit board level. Technicians maintain, repair and install equipment of the following types: mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, controlling, monitoring and recording. Candidate must reside in or relocate to one of the following SD cities: Brookings, Sioux Falls or Mitchell.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work with and communicate with technical experts, healthcare professionals/managers, and OEM representatives.
  • Must be willing to travel to perform on-site repairs, occasional overnight/multiday visits possible.
  • Must be self-directed and able to exercise sound judgment and problem solving with minimal guidance, oversight or direct management.
  • Able to promptly respond to customer inquiries and needs, both on-the-job and remotely.
  • Communicates with customers to help them understand how to use, maintain and troubleshoot their products and devices properly.
  • Completes, maintains, updates, and processes pertinent digital systems, paperwork and records.
  • Solve problems, document procedures and formulate repair plans and maintenance strategies.
  • Operate, control and maintain various biomedical test and calibration equipment.
  • Comfortability with various digital systems (CMMS, word processing, equipment service software)
  • Current drivers’ license valid for the state of residence is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4 years of work experience in healthcare technical service fields preferred.
  • CBET, CABT, CISS-MH and/or any other biomedical device repair and service certifications a plus.
  • Any experience servicing, repairing, maintaining, or otherwise performing work on industrial grade steam sterilization or bulk washer systems is preferred.
  • Experience managing or utilizing digital CMMS or FSM platforms a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, align, and calibrate medical & laboratory equipment.
  • Able to work with various electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, steam, water and air systems.
  • Able to read circuit diagrams and wiring schematics, working knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance according to contractual requirements
  • Manage repair parts, maintain inventories, order replacement parts and equipment.
  • Render technical advice and assistance as required.
  • Provide customers and end users with product and technical support.
  • Provides technical service/mechanical troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Accurately document work conducted, and log times and materials for services on digital CMMS.
