About The Position

Blue United Sourcing is seeking a Junior Medical Physicist to join its established Radiation Oncology team. This opportunity is ideal for a physicist who has completed ABR Part 1, has completed or is well advanced in residency, and is ready to continue progressing toward full board certification while working alongside an experienced ABR-certified physicist. The Junior Radiation Physicist will work alongside an experienced, ABR-certified physicist and collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and other members of the oncology team. The role supports the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy through treatment planning, dosimetry, equipment calibration, quality assurance, radiation safety, and regulatory compliance. As part of the Radiation Oncology team, the Junior Medical Physicist will support the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy across a diverse adult oncology population. You will work closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and an experienced medical physicist in an environment where the clinical disciplines work collaboratively throughout the treatment process. The center treats prostate, breast, lung, head and neck, brain, liver, SRS, SBRT, and other adult oncology cases.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Medical Physics preferred; an appropriate graduate degree in a related physical science may also be considered.
  • Successful completion of ABR Part 1.
  • Medical Physics residency completed or sufficiently advanced to continue toward ABR certification.
  • Board eligible for ABR or ABMP certification.
  • Knowledge of radiation therapy equipment calibration, treatment planning, dosimetry, quality assurance, and radiation safety.
  • Strong attention to accuracy, documentation, and patient safety.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current healthcare provider CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Elekta experience is preferred, but permanent hires may be trained on the facility’s equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate radiation therapy equipment and verify safe and accurate operation.
  • Perform and verify calculations for external beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy.
  • Perform and document required clinical dosimetry.
  • Participate in radiation surveys, leak testing, and radioactive source testing.
  • Support quality assurance activities for external beam therapy and brachytherapy.
  • Assist with radiation equipment maintenance oversight and service documentation.
  • Support compliance with NRC, ACR, state, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Participate in the development and review of medical physics policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate clinical and quality assurance documentation.
  • Provide radiation safety education and support to hospital personnel.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team on treatment planning, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement.
