About The Position

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and driven Junior Project Manager looking to develop their career within the construction and civil engineering sector. Working closely with a small, experienced team of Project Managers, you will take an active role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple live projects. You will be given increasing levels of responsibility as your experience and capabilities develop, with structured support, mentoring, and training provided throughout. The role will focus on the delivery of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) across multiple sites and is particularly well suited to someone with previous experience in construction, groundworks, highways, drainage, or civil engineering who is ready to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will be proactive, organised, commercially aware, and comfortable working across both site-based and project-management activities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within construction, groundworks, highways, drainage, civil engineering, or a related sector.
  • Experience as a Junior Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Site Supervisor, Site Manager, Project Coordinator, or in a similar project delivery role would be advantageous.
  • Practical knowledge of general construction works, site operations, and subcontractor management.
  • Experience within highways, drainage, or Sustainable Drainage Systems would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to liaise professionally with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to resolving project challenges.
  • Good attention to detail and confidence working with project documentation, programmes, reports, and cost information.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of delivering projects safely, on time, to specification, and within budget.
  • Ambitious and motivated to develop into a fully responsible Project Manager.
  • Relevant site or construction qualification, such as CSCS, SSSTS, SMSTS, or equivalent Preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of general construction activities, trades, and site operations.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Professional, proactive, and accountable approach to work.
  • Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to sites across Liverpool, Manchester, and surrounding areas.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Support and take increasing ownership of the delivery of Sustainable Drainage Systems across multiple live projects.
  • Assist with project planning, programming, mobilisation, coordination, and day-to-day delivery activities.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, site teams, and internal stakeholders to maintain effective communication and project progress.
  • Support the management of site activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress against agreed programmes and identify potential delays, risks, or issues at an early stage.
  • Assist with the preparation of project programmes, progress reports, cost tracking, and project documentation.
  • Attend and contribute to client meetings, site meetings, progress reviews, and internal project meetings.
  • Support the procurement and coordination of subcontractors, materials, plant, and other project resources.
  • Assist with managing project variations, changes in scope, and additional works.
  • Work with senior Project Managers to identify and resolve technical, operational, and commercial project issues.
  • Ensure appropriate project records, site documentation, photographs, and progress information are maintained.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and key project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across project delivery processes and procedures.
