Junior Project Cost Estimator Construction
About The Position
CLMI Group is seeking a Junior Project Cost Estimator to prepare preliminary independent cost estimates of projects for comparison with designer or contractor for PM/CM to establish negotiating position. This role will also assist in preparing change order estimates for Owner Authorized Representatives, provide support in price negotiations, and prepare claim analysis and estimates. The Junior Project Cost Estimator will prepare detailed estimates of construction costs based on drawings, specifications, and sketches, and assist in reviewing contractor’s claims and proposals for merit and accountability. A key responsibility includes conducting research on recent cost and price changes in supplies and services.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of full-time paid professional experience in construction estimating of facilities or school construction.
- Knowledge of current local construction labor and material costs.
- Experience in developing and estimating the scope of work for change orders.
- Ability to compare the independent cost estimate with contractor proposal to identify differences.
- Ability to develop scope of work based on RFI/RFC answers and estimate the detailed costs of those scopes of work independent of the contractor proposal.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong fact-finding and in-depth analytical skills.
