Junior Product Owner

Euna SolutionsOakville, ON
CA$60,000 - CA$80,000Hybrid

About The Position

Public-sector procurement is a highly regulated domain, and the Euna Procurement platform is where these complex rules intersect with financial transactions. Product Owners on this team are responsible for translating this complexity into actionable work. The role requires individuals to produce technically clear, tightly scoped tickets that can be processed by AI agents and human teams without rework. The core requirement for this role is judgment – understanding procurement and technology sufficiently to define what "correct" looks like before a ticket is created. AI tooling and ticket crafting are methods to accelerate execution once this judgment is established.

Requirements

  • Procurement or technical experience: experience at another procurement software company, experience working in procurement (buyer, procurement manager, category manager), or a technical background (computer science/engineering degree, hands-on AI experience, or technical role like React/Node.js development).
  • Excellent written communication skills for ticket writing and async coordination.
  • Ability to understand and discuss code at a high level (e.g., follow code to discuss a refactor with a Tech Lead), though not required to write production code.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and agile delivery.
  • Experience with at least one of: wireframing, technical writing, business analysis.
  • Ability to break complex features into small, clear, testable stories with acceptance criteria (samples are valuable).

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on use of AI tooling for product work (story drafting, requirement analysis, summarization, ticket critique).
  • Working comfort with React and SQL.
  • Experience contributing to or owning an AI-assisted development workflow.
  • Prior exposure to a regulated or compliance-heavy domain (govtech, public sector, healthcare, financial services, legal tech, or similar).
  • Product-management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Translate prioritized roadmap initiatives into well-scoped, technically viable user stories.
  • Break features into stories small enough to ship within a 2-week sprint, with clear acceptance criteria for developers or AI agents.
  • Author component-focused stories for AI-driven work and user-flow stories for human-driven work, understanding when each pattern is appropriate.
  • Utilize AI tooling (e.g., Claude, internal Product Agent) to draft, critique, and refine stories, and be able to explain discrepancies in AI-generated content.
  • Integrate compliance context (accessibility, audit logs, PII, transparency, API contracts) directly into stories.
  • Maintain the team's backlog within a SAFe cadence, ensuring stories are linked to Epics and Epics to PI Objectives.
  • Manage dependencies with other teams and surface risks to the RTE and PM.
  • Present the team's shipped work and its significance at System Demos.
  • Act as the first point of contact for the Tech Lead and developers regarding story ambiguity.
  • Accept or reject work based on acceptance criteria, providing specific reasons for rejection.
  • Track and analyze the impact of own tickets on team velocity, identifying factors that accelerated or slowed the team and adjusting authoring practices accordingly.
  • Represent the Buyer (public-agency procurement officer) and the Vendor (supplier) in all product development.
  • Treat compliance constraints as primary requirements, not as edge cases.
