About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Junior Process Engineering Assistant to provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated, and modified process systems, structures, and components. The role involves performing thermalhydraulic evaluations on complex systems, preparing and reviewing design documents for Nuclear Power Plants (including Design Calculations, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification), and preparing/reviewing Engineering Quotation Requests and Tender Technical Evaluations. The position also requires performing walkdowns, attending site visits and meetings, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, supporting Engineering proposal preparation, adhering to the company's quality program and project delivery requirements, providing timely engineering progress updates to Engineering Management, and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in process-system design/analysis.
  • Experience performing heat balance and thermalhydraulic evaluations.
  • Experience in process system design and layout.
  • Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME Section III, ASME B31.1 codes.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).

Nice To Haves

  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
  • Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards and regulatory guides, including CSA N285.0 is an asset.
  • Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design (e.g. ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, CATHENA or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule.
  • Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress.
  • Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.
