Requirements

  • 1-4 years experience as a drafter
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Diploma or Certificate in drafting or engineering technology from an accredited secondary institution
  • Must have strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with team members to clarify markups, resolve design questions, and support coordination efforts
  • All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, be a resident, and residing in Calgary or be willing to relocate to Calgary, to be considered for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Plant 3D, and Navisworks is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of senior designers and engineers to develop technical competency in piping design, modeling, and drawing production.
  • Assist in interpreting and applying P&IDs to develop accurate designs and ensure alignment with process and mechanical requirements.
  • Generate isometrics, equipment layouts, and simple design drawings in accordance with project specifications and Tri standards.
  • Apply process data (e.g., line sizes, elevations, pressures, temperatures) to piping designs and revisions.
  • Support design reviews and collaborate with instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, and civil disciplines to resolve clashes and improve layouts.
  • Assist with incorporating field changes, redlines, and as-built updates into the model and drawings.
  • Develop an understanding of piping design principles, company standards, and industry practices through mentorship and hands-on project work.
