About The Position

Quest Corporation of America, Florida’s leading transportation communications firm, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Public Information Office (PIO) Specialist to support the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 4 Communications Office in an embedded, full-time capacity. Reporting directly to the FDOT District Communications Manager, this position plays an important role in supporting public communication efforts, customer engagement, virtual public meetings, social media communications, and operational activities that help deliver transportation information to communities throughout District 4. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with exceptional organizational skills who thrives in a fast-paced public sector environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and public engagement support.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of education and/or experience in: Communications - Marketing - Journalism - Public Relations - Public Information
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant post-secondary education preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, grammar, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain professional and effective under pressure.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, webinar platforms, and virtual meeting technologies
  • Experience with SharePoint and collaboration tools
  • Experience with social media platforms and content publishing tools
  • Experience with photo editing and PDF editing software
  • Experience with video recording and editing software/equipment
  • Experience with digital communications tools and online publishing platforms

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting public agencies or government communications
  • Experience coordinating public meetings and stakeholder communications
  • Knowledge of social media content development and visual communications
  • Experience managing communication assets and media resources
  • Familiarity with transportation or infrastructure communications is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a communications support resource for FDOT District 4 by responding to customer inquiries and providing information regarding transportation projects and programs.
  • Coordinate and support scheduling of virtual public meetings using webinar and online meeting platforms including Microsoft Teams and similar technologies.
  • Maintain communication assets including photo libraries and project communication materials.
  • Assist with publishing public meeting notices on agency websites and social media platforms.
  • Draft and develop social media content and visual communication materials.
  • Research and curate transportation related news and media coverage.
  • Support mailing list development, correspondence distribution, and administrative communications functions.
  • Assist Communications leadership with outreach initiatives and special assignments supporting District priorities.
  • Maintain professional interactions with stakeholders, internal teams, and the public.
