Hatch is seeking a dynamic Junior Operational Readiness Specialist. Reporting to the Business Practices Consulting group, you will support offices globally working from our Salt Lake City, UT office location.

Requirements

• Roles at this level are filled by recent or soon to be university/college graduates with little or no professional experience but possessing relevant skills
• Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams
• Willingness to spend time in both office and field environments
• Willingness to travel; M-Fr; up to 80% intermittently
• Ability to accept short-term field assignment
• Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects
• Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
• Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering
• Previous co-op experience in project execution, commissioning, or construction on industrial project is considered an asset
• Experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing, mining, energy, steel, chemical, or related environments
• Exposure to project execution, maintenance planning, or operational support activities

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and maintenance of Operational Readiness plans, schedules, and tracking tools
• Support readiness assessments and milestone reviews throughout project execution
• Help identify activities required to prepare operations and maintenance teams for equipment startup and turnover
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, project management, training, and safety teams
• Facilitate meetings, document action items, and track completion of readiness deliverables
• Support communication between project teams and site personnel regarding upcoming changes
• Assist with the development, review, and organization of operating procedures, maintenance procedures, work instructions, and startup documentation
• Support document control activities and ensure readiness documents are maintained and accessible
• Help verify that project documentation is complete prior to turnover
• Support training program development and training schedule coordination
• Track training requirements and completion status for operations and maintenance personnel
• Assist with the development of job aids, training materials, and competency assessments
• Participate in operational readiness reviews, field walkthroughs, and startup planning activities
• Help identify potential operational, maintenance, safety, and reliability risks associated with project implementation
• Track mitigation actions and support closure of identified readiness gaps
• Assist in coordinating project turnover activities
• Support equipment commissioning, startup, and post-startup stabilization efforts
• Track punch-list items, outstanding actions, and turnover deliverables
• Help ensure ownership of systems is successfully transferred to site operations and maintenance teams
• Maintain readiness action logs, dashboards, and status reports
• Monitor progress against readiness milestones and notify leadership of potential risks or delays
• Prepare presentations and reports for project and site leadership
• Perform assignments related to your sector
• Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
• Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
• Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
• Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
