About The Position

DataComm Networks, Inc. is seeking a talented Junior Network Security Engineer for a Full-time position. This role involves monitoring and identifying threats on customer networks, performing necessary triage on detected events, and creating, assigning, and updating cases based on alerts from intrusion detection devices and firewalls, or as reported by customers. The position is primarily remote, but candidates must reside within reasonable driving distance of the Tampa, FL headquarters.

Requirements

  • Experience working with Infrastructure monitoring solutions.
  • Experience working with helpdesk software and ticketing systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Flexible team player, tenacious in problem solving, analytical and excellent communicator.
  • Comfortable doing some repetitive administration tasks.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of current vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations over the phone and able to direct a caller to the correct person or department.
  • Capable of functioning in high-stress, fast-paced office environment.
  • Flexibility to work on a 24x7 basis when required.
  • Understanding of OSI model and common services & protocols.
  • Ability to analyze and correlate information from multiple sources to correctly interpret the context of a situation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or three (3) years’ experience in network security management and response services.
  • Ability to work from home office space & Internet connection required.

  • Occasional on-call coverage may be required.
  • Ability to work early and late when scheduled in advance.
  • Less than 5% travel, if any.
  • Occasional on-site work may be required, including handling network or server equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Network Security team to achieve team goals.
  • Monitor the health and status of deployed IDS systems and firewall devices, and review processes to ensure continuity of service.
  • Maintain knowledge of current vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures.
  • Maintain an accurate record of a client's historical and current vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain an accurate record of the history of attacks on the client's infrastructure.
  • Identify patterns of current and potential future attacks using DNI analysis tools, and make recommendations to the client regarding prevention or risk mitigation.
  • Respond to all urgent threats and attacks on the client's infrastructure as if a member of the client organization.
  • Ensure all assigned service tickets receive response and resolution within contracted SLA obligations.
