About The Position

TEKsystems is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support classified Department of War (DoW) network environments in a Secret/Top Secret operational setting. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer with a strong foundation in networking who is ready to work in secure, mission-critical environments under the mentorship of senior engineers. The Junior Network Engineer will assist in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of classified and un-classified network infrastructure while adhering to strict security, compliance, DoW, and change-management requirements.

  • Experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, network security devices)
  • Experience with day-to-day network operations in a Secret/TS environment
  • Experience monitoring network performance and availability
  • Experience with basic network troubleshooting across LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing, and switching
  • Experience supporting network upgrades, hardware refreshes, and STIGs/patching activities, including IOS updates
  • Experience maintaining accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines
  • Experience configuring and managing network hardware and firewalls
  • Knowledge of DoD, IC, and organizational security policies and procedures
  • Experience participating in change management, incident response, and outage resolution activities
  • Ability to investigate network issues and outages
  • Ability to provide technical help to engineers, IA staff and end users
  • Willingness to support after-hours or on-call operations as required

Responsibilities

  • Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of unclassified and classified network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and network security devices
  • Assist with day-to-day network operations in a Secret/TS environment
  • Monitor network performance and availability; identify, troubleshoot, screen network performance, and escalate issues
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting across LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing, and switching
  • Support network upgrades, hardware refreshes, and STIGs/patching activities, including IOS updates
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines, and design and implement network security measures
  • Configure and manage network hardware and firewalls
  • Follow DoD, IC, and organizational security policies and procedures
  • Participate in change management, incident response, and outage resolution activities
  • Investigate network issues and outages, and work with SME with Network enhancement
  • Provide technical help to engineers, IA staff and end users
  • Support after-hours or on-call operations as required
