About The Position

GM Motorsports is seeking an early-career engineer to support race test cell automation for racing and performance vehicles, engines, and powertrain systems at the Charlotte Technical Center. Working with experienced test, instrumentation, calibration, controls, and software engineers, the engineer will configure, script, validate, troubleshoot, and document test cell automation and data acquisition systems. The position applies foundational engineering knowledge, follows established processes, organizes assigned work, makes day-to-day decisions within defined guidelines, and seeks guidance on issues beyond its experience or authority. The role contributes to safe, reliable, repeatable testing while developing expertise in dynamometer testing, test automation, instrumentation, and racing powertrain development. The role supports test cell automation setup and maintenance, data-quality checks and analysis, instrumentation and sensor validation, dynamometer and full-vehicle testing, and routine issue resolution. It also follows established safety procedures for test cell controls, alarms, interlocks, emergency systems, and data integrity, while communicating risks and abnormal conditions promptly. The role is categorized as onsite, and the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis. Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
