About The Position

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components. We are seeking a driven Junior MEP Project Coordinator to join our project construction team where you will assist in coordinating Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. Because this project utilizes a highly collaborative Progressive Design-Build (PDB) delivery model, you will work directly with design partners, client representatives, and trade subcontractors during the critical development phase to mitigate risks and refine construction execution.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Systems, or Construction Management.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience coordinating construction works, ideally with an institutional or transit-infrastructure focus.
  • Proficiency in reading drawings covering complex HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, and life safety systems.
  • Collaborative attitude suited for a PDB environment where designs shift through team input.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to spot spatial clashes between different MEP scopes.
  • Strong organization skills to manage hundreds of active technical documents concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Review design deliverables alongside engineers during the PDB development phase to ensure constructability.
  • Coordinate 3D BIM models to cross-reference MEP layouts with structural, tunneling, and architectural systems.
  • Track action items stemming from multi-stakeholder design workshops involving Metrolinx and technical consultants.
  • Maintain logs for design changes, monitoring how layout revisions impact material quantities and target pricing.
  • Participate in site safety inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure compliance with project safety requirements, and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Report hazards, deficiencies, and incidents to supervision.
  • Assist in field validation of MEP installations across seven future transit stations, tunnels, and elevated guideway structures.
  • Process Requests for Information (RFIs) and distribute clarification responses promptly to site foreman and trades.
  • Review shop drawings and equipment data sheets submitted by systems subcontractors for specification compliance.
  • Coordinate site delivery schedules for major equipment like tunnel ventilation fans, traction power substations, and signaling units.
  • Maintain document repositories containing approved engineering drawings, meeting minutes, and quality control files.
  • Track quality assurance documentation required for field inspections, ensuring all materials meet Metrolinx standard specifications.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports outlining site installation milestones, material shortages, and delay risks.
  • Schedule and progress tracking.
  • Commissioning and project closeout tracking.
