About The Position

The Junior High Volleyball Coach is responsible for promoting sportsmanship, managing team logistics, and supervising student-athletes during practices, games, and travel for the 2026-2027 season. This role requires the ability to effectively teach, motivate, and mentor early adolescents (ages 12-14) and a strong understanding of basic volleyball mechanics, rotation rules, serve/receive strategies, and skill development. The coach will organize, schedule, and run structured, age-appropriate practices and maintain strong communication with the Athletic Director, student-athletes, parents, and other coaches.

Requirements

  • Previous experience coaching middle school, club, or sub-varsity volleyball, or playing experience at the high school level
  • Ability to effectively teach, motivate, and mentor early adolescents (ages 12–14)
  • Strong understanding of basic volleyball mechanics, rotation rules, serve/receive strategies, and skill development
  • Willingness to organize, schedule, and run structured, age-appropriate practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain prior to the first contest)
  • Pass a State of Michigan background check/fingerprint clearance
