About The Position

Our client is a leading global Consultancy known for delivering high-profile, complex, iconic, large-scale capital projects. They are seeking a dedicated and accomplished Junior Geotechnical Engineer for the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). This landmark project aims to deliver transformative impacts across economic, transportation, and environmental sustainability, improving capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit for 800,000 daily passengers. The project is set to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, marking it as the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history. The Junior Geotechnical Engineer will play a pivotal role in this significant project, aligning with the client's purpose to create responsible places that bring transformative impact to people, communities, and societies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or a related engineering discipline
  • Early‑career experience (3+ years) in geotechnical engineering, construction, or field support.
  • Foundational understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, soil and materials testing, and construction methods.
  • Familiarity with safety, environmental compliance, and quality assurance requirements on major infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic project management tools
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work in the field and adapt to evolving project demands while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Nice To Haves

  • EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain, with interest in professional development and licensure.
  • Exposure to CAD or BIM platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support field engineering and construction oversight by assisting with site supervision, implementing construction management plans, and ensuring compliance with project requirements, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor, document, and report daily construction activities, including participation in precondition surveys, mitigation planning, punch‑list resolution, and verification of contractor inspection reports.
  • Provide geotechnical and environmental support, including soils and materials management, compliance with soil reuse and alternative fill plans, and monitoring hazardous materials tracking and environmental control plans.
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of environmental compliance programs, including noise, vibration, stormwater, dust control, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support testing, inspection, and quality assurance activities by coordinating materials testing, maintaining systematic records, participating in quality audits, and assisting with resolution of non‑conformances.
  • Maintain and update construction documentation, drawings, specifications, and change records, and assist with preparation of daily, monthly, and quarterly reports on progress, safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Assist with technical coordination and communication by supporting reviews of RFIs, submittals, and change orders, participating in meetings, preparing technical presentations and reports, and supporting safety management plans and incident response efforts.
