We are currently seeking a motivated entry-level designer to join our team, learn the specialized skill of fire protection design, and grow with the fire protection industry.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering, design, or a related field
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and Revit required
  • Strong mathematical aptitude
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Good written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Self motivated with an eagerness for professional development and growth
  • Ability to perform field work (walking sites, climbing stairs/ladders, bending, crouching, and navigating obstacles)
  • Ability to meet client-specific requirements, including drug testing where applicable
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of fire protection systems for new and existing buildings
  • Produce drawings using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and Revit
  • Learn how to perform basic hydraulic calculations
  • Learn about and participate in BIM coordination meetings
  • Preparation of stock and fabrication lists
  • Assist with preparing drawings for permitting and approvals
  • Work closely with senior designers, project managers, and field teams
  • Assist with material lists, as-builts, and basic project tasks
  • Learn and apply National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and codes, local building codes, and company design standards
  • Occasionally visit job sites to help take measures, and also to see how designs come together in the field
  • Participate in related training classes, courses, and seminars as requested by the department manager
