About The Position

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Junior Field Telecom Technician to support a major national laboratory. This role involves planning and executing network installations, analyzing requirements, preparing installation diagrams, and installing telecommunications equipment. The technician will also be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment, documenting work, and adhering to safety regulations and customer best practices. A basic understanding of VoIP technology is required.

Requirements

  • HS diploma plus a minimum of 3 years, or more, of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties. Related experience may be substituted for relevant education and vice versa.
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a U.S. Dept. of Energy Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems (MS OS)
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • A basic understanding of VoIP technology is required

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute network installations in accordance with customer orders, technical specifications, and industry standards.
  • Analyze installation requirements, order and gather necessary equipment, supplies, and tools, and assess installation sites.
  • Prepare installation diagrams, run, pull, terminate, and splice cables, and install telecommunications equipment such as routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, and alarm and fire-suppression systems.
  • Build ironwork and ladder racks, activate remote access tools, and coordinate with contractors.
  • Verify service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms, identifying and correcting issues or escalating them.
  • Document and label equipment and cables, record configuration diagrams and specifications.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to codes, standards, and legal regulations.
  • Utilize the customer’s ticketing system to track and update all work performed.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunications equipment.
  • Provide reports and complete requests for new service.
  • Determine the methodology for installing telephone services.
  • Contribute to the overall success of telecommunications projects ensuring high-quality service delivery.
