About The Position

GHD has an excellent opportunity for a Junior Field Technician to join our Contamination Assessment and Remediation team, based out of our Fredericton, New Brunswick. This role is a “hands on” field position supporting environmental assessment, remediation, and monitoring projects. Be part of the dynamic culture! Requirements

  • Ability to perform field work in a safe, efficient, and professional manner
  • Ability to communicate across diverse occupational roles
  • Commitment to safety applying a behavior-based safety culture in all aspects of the job
  • Strong mechanical, technical, and computer proficiency
  • Physically capable of working in non-ideal conditions, such as hot/cold temperatures, wet weather, outside, and around equipment and traversing rough terrains
  • Ability to be a self-starter, proactive, flexible, great teammate, willing and able to work on a wide variety of tasks with minimal direction
  • Ability to collect, review, and organize field readings, data, and operating parameters to support project delivery
  • Graduate of an environmental, engineering technology, science, or related program
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with environmental sampling, field inspections, or remediation work is considered an asset
  • Experience working outdoors and supporting field programs is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental field programs related to contamination assessment, remediation, and monitoring projects
  • Assist with soil, groundwater, surface water, and vapour sampling in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards
  • Inspection, maintenance, and gauging of environmental groundwater wells
  • Ensure work is completed in a safe and compliant manner with respect to applicable GHD, client, and regulatory standards
  • Generate quality field notes and enter collected field data electronically into database programs
  • Perform site inspections and field observations with attention to detail in GHD’s operational areas
  • Support operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, oversight, and repairs of remedial equipment including groundwater recovery wells, groundwater treatment units, and associated physical and mechanical components
  • Assist with groundwater treatment systems, including pumps, filters, and related equipment, to support optimal performance
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities, system operations, and maintenance activities
  • Provide health and safety/construction oversight support for contractors, as required
  • Work directly with project team members, clients, and contractors
  • Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate risks and to safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others.
