Position Summary As a Junior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing preliminary estimates and assisting with cost reports. Other responsibilities include supporting other estimators with pricing schedules, participating in the preparation of proposals, and performing technical assessments to facilitate analysis functions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year experience in estimating preferred.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Accubid & LiveCount experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, & Bluebeam.
  • High degree of sensitivity for confidentiality.
  • Task-oriented with an excellent sense of priority, logic and objectivity; highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Independent and self-motivated.
  • Excellent customer service focus with an ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Demonstrated reliability, judgment, and professionalism.
  • Must maintain a 98% attendance and on-time record.

Responsibilities

  • Take-offs on light fixtures, power & lighting devices and LV Systems devices digitally and/or by hand.
  • Set up projects in Accubid.
  • Data entry in Accubid via LiveCount and/or manual.
  • Verify square footage on architectural/structural drawings.
  • Overlay drawings in Bluebeam and identify changes in drawing set.
  • Become familiar with all drawings.
  • Read specifications as pertains to own take-off.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned to support estimating team.
  • Must commit to a 2 year Electrical Trades Class and must complete with a passing grade.
  • Classes will include, but not limited to, electrical theory, basic electrical circuitry, ampacities, conduit fill, box size calculations, National Electrical Code, electrical methods and practices.
  • Must commit to a periodic tenue in the prefab shop or on a jobsite for 1-2 week modules focused on electrical project operations and practices.
  • These may include, but are not limited to, an understanding of basic material identification, labor, production, safety, scheduling, equipment, prefab, project management processes.
  • Successfully complete an evaluation for each module.
  • Must successfully pass a Journeymans Prep Test.
  • Begin to learn and become proficient in electrical estimating skills including, but not limited to, counting takeoff, lighting branch takeoff, power branch takeoff, mechanical branch takeoff, systems raceways takeoff, and distribution takeoff.
  • Acquire a knowledge of Request For Pricings (RFP), Request For Quotes (RFQ), AccuBid software, LiveCount, and Bluebeam.
  • Continually progress in your ability to move into an Electrical Estimator role.
