About The Position

Wood Systems Inc., a leading provider of high-quality custom woodwork and architectural millwork, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our team. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in estimating within the millwork and construction industry. The Junior Estimator will support the estimating team by assisting with cost analysis, material take-offs, and bid preparation while gaining hands-on experience in delivering accurate and competitive project estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in estimating or management within the millwork, woodworking, or construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of woodwork fabrication, materials, and finishes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing architectural plans, specifications, and bid documents to understand project requirements.
  • Support the preparation of material take-offs and preliminary cost estimates for millwork and casework projects.
  • Work closely with senior estimators, project managers, and engineers to clarify scope and project details.
  • Help prepare and submit bid proposals within established deadlines.
  • Assist in obtaining and organizing pricing from vendors and suppliers.
  • Identify basic project risks and assist in evaluating cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and supporting documentation.
  • Learn Wood Systems’ production processes, materials, and estimating methods.
  • Support value engineering efforts by researching alternative materials or methods.
  • Perform quality checks on estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with pricing change orders on awarded projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support project success and improve future estimates.
