About The Position

Arcadis Canada is seeking a Junior Environmental Field Technician, Scientist or Engineer in Training to join their Environmental Team in Canada. This position will be based out of Ottawa, Ontario. This role will include 85% travel to sites throughout the region as well as an opportunity to travel across Canada. This role sits within the Global Resilience Business Area, which focuses on protecting the natural environment and water resources while powering the world for future generations. The team addresses challenges posed by climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity, including frequent large-scale events like floods and wildfires.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma or bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, earth sciences, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear and effective writing abilities.
  • Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years' experience in soil, groundwater or vapour sampling, and overseeing drilling activities and subcontractor management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute activities assigned by Project Managers pertaining to the execution of environmental projects including environmental site assessments, risk assessments, and remediation projects.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections.
  • Monitor and supervise drilling and/or remediation activities.
  • Prepare field notes.
  • Collect soil and groundwater samples.
  • Write environmental reports.
  • Strong understanding of field protocols including soil, groundwater, and vapour sampling, and overseeing drilling activities and subcontractor management.
  • Maintain knowledge and familiarity with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks (O.Reg.153).
  • Diligent interpretation of environmental data.
  • Comparison of sample results to applicable guidelines and standards.
  • Preparation of reports documenting the results of investigation programs.

Benefits

  • The salary range for this position is $55,100-$82,650.
