About The Position

AllRock is a fast growing Geotechnical/Materials/Environmental Engineering firm that is looking for a Junior Environmental Technologist/EIT to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. This is a unique opportunity to deliver environmental services on a wide variety of exciting projects across Ontario. We are looking for a candidate to be in a permanent full-time position in our Toronto office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Earth or Environmental Science, Civil, Environmental, or Geological Engineering, Hydrogeology or Geology, or equivalent related disciplines.
  • A valid driver’s license, insurance and a personal vehicle is required.
  • 0-2 years plus of relevant work experience.
  • Eligible for federal security clearance.
  • Flexibility to travel periodically.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in environmental monitoring, including species at risk surveys, discharge monitoring, and fish surveys.
  • A solid understanding of geology and the principles of physical and chemical hydrogeology, particularly in relation to contaminated site assessments, delineation, and remediation.
  • Relevant experience in monitoring and sampling surface water and groundwater, borehole drilling, installation of monitoring wells, logging field samples, and preparing borehole logs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Data compilation and technical report writing.
  • Work in both a self-lead and team environment, in office and field settings.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04 and 406/19.
  • Consulting experience with O. Reg. 406/19
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Phase I ESAs would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with invoicing, budgeting, and other areas of project related management would be considered an asset.
  • Auto-CAD or related experience would be considered an asset.
  • gINT or related experience would be considered an asset.
  • Eligibility for P.Geo. or P.Eng. certification would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Assessments of Past Uses. Completing site visits, interviews, historical and regulatory reviews and recommendations.
  • Conduct field activities for Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and the Excess Soil Regulation. Conducting soil and groundwater sampling, surface water and sediment sampling, and soil tracking.
  • Conduct field activities relating to remedial excavations.
  • Analyze field data, produce tables, figures, and prepare technical reports.
  • Oversee abatement and remediation processes.
  • Comply with applicable Health and Safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Co-ordinate, liaison and build business relationships with laboratories, Clients, sub-contractors and third-party stakeholders.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates for projects.
  • Schedule and manage projects, managing scopes of work, budgets and Client expectations.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team in both field work and office environments to achieve project goals.
  • Travel to project sites, which may require overnight trips and flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as needed.
  • Other related duties as required.
