About The Position

GEMTEC is seeking a Junior Environmental Analyst to join their growing team in London, Ontario. Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field (environmental engineering, environmental science or geoscience) from an accredited institution.
  • Pathway to eligibility for professional registration (e.g. P.Eng. or P.Geo.)
  • 2-4 years of relevant professional experience (preferably in consulting).
  • Understanding and demonstrated field experience in soil classification, overburden and bedrock drilling methods, and soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater sampling protocols is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental site characterization and remediation, and groundwater and surface water monitoring programs.
  • Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions, including working in remote locations and on “out of town” projects requiring overnight stays.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such Word and Excel are required.
  • Valid driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle for work related travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in environmental site assessment and remediation and/or on-site and excess soil management, with working knowledge and practice of Ontario Regulations 153/04 and 406/19 would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with other software, such as CAD, GIS, Surfer, gINT, and hydrogeology modeling software, will be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Providing field and technical support to a wide variety of environmental projects; including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, technical report writing and proposal preparation.
  • Designing and conducting field investigations, including drilling and logging, test pitting, soil and bedrock characterization, monitoring well installation, hydraulic response testing, soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water sampling, installation of groundwater instrumentation, etc.
  • Assisting intermediate and senior staff prepare technical environmental reports including environmental site assessments (Phase One and Two) and excess soil reporting.
  • Interpretation and application of provincial and federal acts and regulations.
